2024 World Agricultura Innovation Conference -Dietary Fiber Summit were successfully held
On the morning of October 10, the 2024 World AgriFood Innovation Conference (WAFI) Dietary Fiber Summit was held at the Beijing Jinhai Lake International Convention & Exhibition Center. The conference was hosted by the MBA Education Center of China Agricultural University and the Chinese Society of Bioengineering, and co-hosted by Tailijie Biotech Co., Ltd. Experts, scholars and business leaders from home and abroad gathered together for a wonderful collision of ideas and wisdom.
This conference aims to build a high-end dialogue platform to promote in-depth exchanges and cooperation among domestic and foreign experts, scholars and business leaders. It is hoped that through the collision of ideas and the integration of wisdom, innovative thinking will be stimulated, new ideas and new solutions will be provided, and the high-quality development of the dietary fiber industry will be promoted.
Fu Wenge, professor of China Agricultural University and director of MBA Education Center, first delivered a speech for the conference. Dietary fiber has developed rapidly in China in recent years. We are very grateful to the scientists and entrepreneurs in this industry for their early exploration. Innovation needs to be early. We believe that the Dietary Fiber Summit can contribute to the development of our industry and the health of mankind.

The conference is divided into three parts: sharing by experts and scholars, sharing by enterprises and dialogue.
Dr. Simon Heck, Director-General of the International Potato Center (CIP), and Bibi Giyose, Senior Nutrition Officer for Policy and Programmes in the Nutrition and Food Systems Division at FAO, were invited to attend the conference. Dr. Simon Heck delivered a wonderful keynote speech on “Improving Food Systems and Increasing Dietary Fiber with Root and Tuber Crops”, and explored in depth the key role of these crops in enhancing global food security and improving human health. In her keynote speech, Bibi Giyose emphasized the importance of fruits, vegetables and pulses to improve the intake of dietary fibre, pointing out that these foods are essential to improving public health and preventing diseases.

Zhao Liping, Chair Professor at Rutgers University, Distinguished Professor at Shanghai Jiaotong University, American Academy of Microbiology Fellow, Canadian Institute for Advanced Studies CIFAR Fellow, presented his latest research results, “Foundation Guild of Gut Microbiome: A New Target for Nutritional Improvement of Human Health”. This research result was recently published in the top international journal Cell. At this conference, Professor Zhao Liping also publicly expounded on this research result for the first time.
